“Looking Beyond the Hand” (oil glaze over collage, August 2011)
This is a study of my lifetime relationships and career history, as a professional dancer then physician, through collage with photographs, medical school notes, and even my Lincoln Center stage pass from my earlier career in dance. This work includes music from my recently discovered passion for violin and images of recent artworks in sculpture and painting. “Looking Beyond the Hand” thus reflects my life journey, but more specifically focuses on moving from a disabling hand injury during my medical career toward a new path in Fine Arts. "Looking Beyond the Hand" will be in the "Self, Observed" exhibition at the NC Museum of Art, Raleigh, NC, October 2011 through January 2012.
